To uninstall MySQL 5.0 from Windows click Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.
The Add or Remove Programs dialog box pops up. Scroll down till the MySQL Server 5.0 entry is reached.
Select this entry (i.e. MySQL Server 5.0). Click Remove.
This will prompt for a confirmation to uninstall MySQL Server 5.0. Click Yes.
After collecting the information that the uninstaller needs, the un-installation process of MySQL Server 5.0 begins. The MySQL Server 5.0 entry will finally disappear from the Add or Remove Programs.
When uninstalling MySQL from Windows via Add or Remove Program, (currently) the uninstallation wizard does not remove MySQL completely from PC.
If a reinstallation of MySQL is required, after uninstallation, the wizard gives an error as shown in diagram 1.7. To overcome this problem browse through the drive (Example: C:\Program Files\MySQL) where MySQL was originally installed and simply delete the MySQL folder before reinstalling MySQL.
